Global Bookkeeping Week 2019 is being celebrated between 18th and 22nd November. Here at G W Dick & Co we wanted to recognise the vital work bookkeepers do to support businesses worldwide. We decided to carry out a question and answer session with our Digital Bookkeeper and Accounts Manager Katie Coyne and we would like to share the results with you.
How long have you worked at G W Dick & Co LLP?
I’ve worked here for 17 years and 3 months.
What are the biggest changes you have seen in recent years?
The biggest change has been to the tax system through the introduction of Making Tax Digital.
What is your favourite part of the job?
Organising and producing digital reports from clients’ records and business transactions.
What challenges do you face in your work?
HMRC have introduced huge changes to how they want our clients to report their business affairs to the tax man. Luckily, I enjoy the challenge of keeping up to date with all of these changes and ensuring our clients continue to be compliant.
How have our clients responded to Making Tax Digital?
They are grateful for the support we provide because this allows them to concentrate on their business while we take care of their bookkeeping.
